The brown-headed apalis is a mid- to high altitude forest species. Note the dark brown crown, the grey outer tail feathers and the white tip. The upper photo was taken in Kisolanza (12-15), courtesy of Per Holmen; the 2nd row photo, in the Ngorongoro Forest (1-12). The other photos were taken in the Udzungwa Mountains (7-07) by Dr. Louis A. Hansen who notes: "Age: adult; subspecies: probably the nominate race (A. a. alticola)".
