These black-throated barbets were photographed at Ngutukoiti (left upper image, 2-07) and Engikaret (right upper and row 2). The 3rd row bird was also seen at Engikaret (9-10), courtesy of Valéry Schollaert, and the 4th row at Tsavo West (2-12), courtesy of Karine Van der Vurst; the fifth row bird, at Naipilokonya (8-14). The 6th row birds were photographed at Ubuntu (3-13), courtesy of Paul Oliver. The mating pair in the bottom two photos was at Shambarai swamp (10-17), courtesy of Trude Peterson. Note the characteristic elongated yellow spots on the back and the faint yellow on the rump.
