The pair of adult black-necked grebes in breeding plumage (note the golden ear tufts and the chestnut mottling on the flanks) was photographed at Nanja Dam in May 2006. The immatures in the lower images were seen at Lake Eyasi in July 2010, courtesy of Kian and Dylan Schmeling.
