The spur-winged lapwings are often seen in pairs or small flocks foraging in or near fresh water as in most of these images. The name derives from a small, difficult to see, carpal spur. The right 2nd row photo (Selous, 12-19) is courtesy of Prashant Ghorpade. The other photos were taken at Shambarai swamp, Nyumba ya Mungu, Lake Burunge, Lake Manyara and Mara River.
