The grassland or African pipit is the most common pipit in Tanzania. In flight the white outer tail feathers are one feature that separates it from the long-billed pipit whose outer tail feathers show buff. The 2nd row bird was at Sumbawanga (6-18). The bird with nest material was seen at Simba Farm on West Kilimanjaro (12-17), courtesy of Michael Harris. The left 3rd row photo was taken at Lake Manyara (7-12); the others, at Engikaret (4-06 & 3-10).
