The left image of a female golden-backed weaver, an east African endemic, was taken at Nanja Dam in April 2007. The male was seen in Olasiti in the same year. Colonies are often near reedbeds. Note the intensely ruby-red eye. Click the female image to see more images, especially of nest-building.
