The straw-tailed whydah is a northeast African endemic that parasitizes the purple grenadier. The 2nd row photo was taken at Lake Eysai (2-08), courtesy of Karine Van der Vurst. The flying bird was seen on the Asogati Plain (4-06). The left lower breeding male was seen at Shambarai swamp (5-08); click it to see a slideshow which includes a juvenile.
