The Usambara akalat is a Tanzanian endemic in the west Usambara mountains, in undergrowth at higher elevations. The bird in the bottom photos was seen in the Magamba FR (4-19), courtesy of Per Holmen. The other four photos of one bird were taken in the Shagayu Forest (10-11), courtesy of Valéry Schollaert. Note the larger white and smaller rufous spots in front of the eye and the rufous wash on the tail.
