The bird in flight was seen at TPC-Moshi (8-18), courtesy of Christine Baissac. The left 2nd row immature was seen at the Singida Lodge waterhole (6-09), courtesy of Paul Oliver; the right upper immature, at Shambarai swamp (7-13). The left 4th row adult was also at Shamabarai (7-13). All the other photos were taken in Tarangire near the Tarangire Safari Lodge (5-08). The adult dwarf bittern in the foreground of the left 3rd row photo caught a tadpole, barely visible in its beak (right 3rd row), shook it, then fed it to the subadult in the background of the left 3rd row photo.
