The bar-tailed godwit is a fairly common palearctic migrant on the coast. Note the barring on the tail and the upcurved bill. The flight photo was taken at Ushongo (1-13) and the pair was photographed in Cairns, Australia (11-13), both courtesy of Paul Oliver; click the above photo to see several enlargements.
