The nominate helmeted guineafowl has a tall casque while the southern subspecies (ssp. marungensis) has a blunt casque. Both are shown close-up in these images. The nest/egg photo is courtesy of Frank Priscus Shirima. The juveniles (right lower) were seen at Ndutu. The immature (right 2nd row) was seen at Ngorongoro. Ssp. marungensis (left 2nd row) was seen at Katavi. The adult and juveniles in row 7 were at Ndutu. All of the other photos above were taken in Tarangire NP.
