Von der Decken' hornbill pairs and families are common throughout Tanzania in arid bush and wooded grassland. The female has a black bill; the male, a multicoloured red-yellow and black bill; and the immature, a dull yellow-orange and black bill (see row 4 above). The left upper photo (Tarangire, 2-17) is courtesy of Karine Van der Vurst. The other photos were taken in Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Ruaha.
