Home Alphabetical Maps Taxonomic Links/Resources

The mountain oriole, also called montane oriole or black-tailed oriole, is an east African endemic, uncommon in Tanzania in the higher elevations of the northwest. Similar to the black-headed oriole, the upper side of the central tail feathers is black (not shown) instead of olive green. The left bird was seen in the castle Forest-Kenya (7-18), courtesy of Per Holmen; the right, in the Nyungwe Forest (Rwanda, 12-09), courtesy of Jason Anderson.
