The great snipe, a widespread but uncommon pale-arctic migrant in Tanzania, is darker and shorter billed than the common snipe and has barred chest, abdomen and vent. This displaying bird was photographed on its breeding ground in Norway, courtesy of Stein Ø. Nilsen.
