The white-browed sparrow-weavers photographed in Mikumi and Selous are race pectoralis, showing small black marks across the breast. The birds seen on the Asogati Plain are race melanorhynchus which lacks the small breast marks but does show a larger single dark mark at each side of the upper breast. The upper five and the right 4th row photos were taken in Mikumi NP ; the right 4th row photo (Lake Manyara) is courtesy of Kileo Kipanga. the 5th row photos in Selous. The nest was seen in Samburu and the photo above was taken on the Asogati Plain; click it to see 15 enlargementsincluding a side-to-side comparison of the two races.
