The eastern violet-backed sunbird is an East African endemic. Note the dark blue tail and white supercilium in the female. The orange color on the necks of several birds is aloe pollen. The upper male and female photos (Mkomazi, 8-22) are courtesy of Kim Axmann. The 4th row male (Maasai steppe, 12-21) is courtesy of Per Holmen. The other photos were taken at Natano, Lake Manyara, Yaida Valley and Tarangire. Click photo above to see 22 enlargements.
