The thick-billed cuckoo is an uncommonly seen canopy dweller especially in southern, western and coastal forests. The upper bird was was photographed in the Msumbugwe Forest Reserve (4-10). Note the yellow eye ring and banded tail. The juvenile in the lower photo was seen in Dar es Salaam (2-12), courtesy of Riaan Marais.
