The sand martin is a common palearctic migrant from September to May and may be seen in large flocks. The two upper photos are courtesy of Dr. Louis A. Hansen who noted: "Small to medium size swallow. Off-white underparts, with a dull dark brown breast band and dark underwing coverts (not black)". The left lower image is courtesy of Valéry Schollaert (Lukuba, 10-10) and the right lower image is courtesy of Karine Van der Vurst (Kibale NP, Uganda, 1-10).
