The Usambiro barbet is an east African endemic, similar to d'Arnaud's barbet but larger and with a darker bill. The Usambiro's territory is west of the Rift Valley while d'Arnaud's occurs to the east. These birds were photographed in Yaida Valley and the Serengeti. The right 4th row photo, taken at Naabi Hill (11-10), is courtesy of Bob Verhoog. The lower photo of a juvenile was also taken in the Serengeti (12-11), courtesy of Colin Beale; click it to see 17 enlargenents.
