The upper two black-throated barbets were photographed at Same (6-18) and Mkomazi Gate (4-20), courtesy of Per Holmen; Ngutukoiti (left 3rd row, 2-07) and Engikaret (right 3rd row and row 3). The 8th row birds were photographed at Ubuntu (3-13), courtesy of Paul Oliver. The mating pair in the bottom two photos was at Shambarai swamp (10-17), courtesy of Trude Peterson. Note the characteristic elongated yellow spots on the back and the faint yellow on the rump. The endemic Tanzanian subspecies flavibuccalis has a brown throat patch extending down the center of the breast.
