The common or European cuckoo is a palearctic migrant in Tanzania on southward passage from October through December and northward from March through April. Note that yellow is confined to the base of the mandible and the outer tail feathers are spotted. The top photo was taken in the Ahusha highlands, courtesy of Frank Priscus Shirima.
