Acryllium vulturinum
Home Alphabetical Maps Taxonomic Links/Resources

One field guide describes the vulturine guineafowl as 'distinctive and beautiful', another as 'tall and elegant', and a third as 'bizarre'. Not shown on the field guide maps, its range extends arc-like from Mkomazi to southern Tarangire, east of the Rift; most of the photos above and the video were taken in south Tarangire, Makame, Kimottoro-Maasai Steppe, and Mkungunero. The adult and juvenile were on the Kitwai plain (8-14). Click the photo above to see 14 enlargements including juveniles, immatures and a flight photo.
