The woodland kingfisher is found in wooded and bushed grassland. The right lower bird was in Arusha NP (2-08), courtesy of Fain Zimmerman. The top photo of an adult feeding an immature was taken at Mwiba (3-18). The left 3rd row photo was taken at Lake Manyara NP (1-11), courtesy of Colin Beale, and the left 4th row bird was photographed in Ngorongoro Crater (1-08). All of the others were photographed in Tarangire. The southern race cyanoleuca is shown in the enlargements (#1): note the black wedge behind the eye.
