The curlew sandpiper is a migrant to subsaharan Africa from the Arctic. It may be found near salt and fresh water, often in small flocks with other waders. The large flight photo was taken in Dar es Salaam (12-17), courtesy of Riaan Marais. The other birds were seen at Ndutu, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Eyasi, Emayani, and Pembe Abwe.
