The little sparrowhawk is the smallest Tanzanian accipiter (28 cm). The white rump and the two central white spots oriented vertically on the tail are diagnostic, best seen in slideshow photo #10. Slideshow photos #13-19 show an adult batheing and singing at Lake Chala, courtesy of Lyn Waltenberg. The upper adult was seen at Mbuyuni Farm near Morogoro (10-23), courtesy of Kim Axmann; the 2nd row, in Ngaramtoni (8-18). The other adult and immature were both seen in Olasiti; click the immature photo to see 27 enlargements.
