The woolly-necked stork can be seen along the coast, in lagoons, swamps and waterways throughout the country. It was formerly considered a subspecies of the Asian woolly-necked stork, C. episcopus, but was split as a distinct species by the International Ornithological Congress in 2023 on the basis of its range and morphological differences. The upper photo (Pangani, 10-16) is courtesy of Jiri Haureljuk; the 2nd row photo (Mkomazi, 2-17), courtesy of Stuart Webb; 4th row flight photo (Fish Eagle Point, 4-20), courtesy Per Holmen; right 5th row immature, courtesy of Karine Van der Vurst.
