The distinctive features of the grey apalis are the brown head (in the male) and the white outer tail feathers. In Tanzania it may be seen in the forests of the northwest and north central areas. The upper and left 3rd row birds were seen in Loliondo. The 2nd row male and the 4th row female were in the Castle Forest-Kenya, courtesy of Per Holmen; the right 3rd row, in Mashoza-Rwanda, courtesy of Jason Anderson; and the lower bird was seen in Ngarwa Forest near Loliondo.
