Terrestrial Brownbul
Phyllastrephus terrestris
Home Alphabetical Maps Taxonomic Links/Resources

The terrestrial brownbul differs from the northern brownbul by being larger (bulkier and longer), having reddish-brown eyes vs. brown eyes, having a white chin vs. light brown chin and being earth brown above without russet overtones (see comparison photos above). The upper two photos were taken at Gunga Hedaru-Pangani River (8-22). The 3rd row photo was taken in the Okavango Delta (9-08), courtesy of Mike Graham. The other photos are all of the same bird and were taken at Mbuyuni Farm near Morogoro (1-19); the right lower comparison photo of a northern Brownbul was at the same location (8-19), all courtesy of Kim Axmann.
