Susan Stolberger first identified the Ruaha chat which is similar to Arnot's chat. The male is phenotypically the same as Arnot's; the female (upper right, horizontal and lower photos) is clearly different. DNA studies also show a clear difference, as have sound recordings, and the ranges are largely separate (see map).The left upper bird was in the Burigi Game Reserve (1-16). The upper right and left middle photos were taken at Isunkaviola (Ruaha, 9-09). The pair in the right 2nd row and 3rd row photos was photographed in Rwanda near the Tanzanian border, courtesy of Callan Cohen. The lower two were taken in Tarangire (3-10), courtesy of Paul Oliver.
