The thick-billed cuckoo is an uncommonly seen canopy dweller especially in southern, western and coastal forests. The upper bird was photographed south of Dar es Salaam (7-18) and the juvenile, in Dar (2-12), both courtesy of Riaan Marais. The bird in flight was seen in Mozanbique, courtesy of Per Holmen. The right lower bird was seen in the Msumbugwe FR (4-10). Note the yellow eye ring and narrowly banded tail. |
