The grey heron is grey and white with a thick black stripe above the eye that extends back in a long plume, not always easily seen. The 2nd row flight photo was taken in Katavi (6-18); the right lower flight photo is courtesy of Mary Caisley. The heron in breeding plumage with red legs and red and yellow beak was on the Wami River (3-11), courtesy of Paul Oliver.
