The Eurasian hoopoe differs from the African hoopoe by having a white sub-terminal band that extends across the primaries (right upper image) and a narrow white band below the black tips of the crest. The upper bird was photographed at Chada Camp in Katavi (12-08), courtesy of Paul Oliver. The lower bird was in Spain (4-23), courtesy of Eddy Caudron.
