The upper white-rumped swift (Shambarai swamp, 10-19) is courtesy of Alex Rees; the 2nd row (Maasai Steppe, 4-24), courtesy Per Holmen. The small left white-rumped swift in flight was photographed in Katavi NP (1-11), courtesy of Silas Olofson; the right, Mara River (3-17), courtesy of Paul Oliver. The bird in hand was one of a pair looking for a place to nest on Chris Schmeling's veranda and both ended up in the house (Lake Eyasi, 12-11). Note the deeply forked tail, white throat patch and narrow white rump.
