The green-backed heron is usually seen along lakeshore and river banks. The top photo was taken in the Serengeti (7-14). The left 2nd row photo of a juvenile was taken in Selous (6-02). The right 2nd row immature was seen in Pembe Abwe (7-07); the left 3rd row immature, in the Serengeti, courtesy of Steve Dolberg. The right 3rd row and both 5th row adults were at Lake Duluti (11-08); left 4th row adult, Katavi (6-18); and the right 4th row immature, Shambarai swamp (9-18).
