The black-winged bishop is a large bishop (12 cm) that was also called the fire-crowned bishop. These birds were seen at Mtwara (top left), Gendagenda (3rd row right) and Ushongo. The photos show the red collar across the lower neck and red head with color extending to the edge of the upper mandible. The lower belly and crissum may be buff or white.
