The black-winged red bishop is a large bishop (12 cm) that is also called the black-winged bishop or the fire-crowned bishop. These birds were seen at Mtwara (1st row left, 5-09), Gendagenda (3rd row right, 7-08) and Ushongo (6-08). The photos show the red collar across the lower neck and red head with color extending to the edge of the upper mandible. The lower belly and crissum may be buff or white.
