These photos of greater kestrels show the plain pale rufous head which lacks a malar stripe. The barring on the back, the neck streaking and white eye are clearly visible. The left lower bird was seen at Lemuta (3-09); the right upper, in the Ngorongoro CA 3-18). The right lower bird was seen in the Gol Kopjes (1-07) and the bird in flight, in Katavi (7-15), both courtesy of Paul Oliver; click the right lower photo to see 14 enlargements.
