These photos of greater kestrels show the plain pale rufous head which lacks a malar stripe. The barring on the back, the neck streaking and white eye are clearly visible. The left lower bird was seen at Lemuta; the right upper, in the Ngorongoro CA). The right lower bird was seen in the Gol Kopjes and the bird in flight, in Katavi, both courtesy of Paul Oliver; click the right lower photo to see 15 enlargements.
