The African orange-bellied parrot is an East African endemic. The male has the diagnostic orange belly. The female and immature lack the yellow shoulder tip seen in the otherwise similar brown parrot. The left upper flight photo (Lake Chala, 9-11) is courtesy of Lyn Waltenberg. The nest cavity was photographed in Tarangire NP (11-16), courtesy Linda Bushman. The other photos were taken in Tarangire NP, Shambarai Swamp and Mkomazi NP. Click the photo above to see slideshow which includes males, females, immatures and a nest cavity.
